Altered the drop of the blade as was suggested on my previous post and lengthened the handle a little to give a little more 'wumph' when chopping without making it crazy big !

I think the tip needs to be dropped just a bit more so the center "sweet spot" strikes as you are whacking the wood.

I like it. I do agree with Rockywolf as far as chopping, but at the same time you would lose the nice belly near the tip that could be used for skinning a critter.....a large critter.

LOL. Pit designed it with a lower tip at first (see other thread) but I suggested less angle so it could be batoned with.
Pit, can you design an adjustable tip?:)

LOL ! Made me scratch my head when the second comment to lower the tip was made !!!!

I think this version is about the best compromise I could do, there is always gonna be some compromise of sorts when designing a knife !

What would the handle be made of? Unless it's something naturally sticky, it might tend to slide around some.
Maybe some textured G10?

I was thinking about Micarta. I don't actually think this would be a problem, if you think of axes, hatchets and hammers they have no texturing but I have never found my hand slipping.Maybe during hard chopping in very wet weather but even then I would have my hand through the lanyard !

Some cordage such as Jute could be wound around the bare section between the handle and the blade, this would give a better feel when choking up as a knife and would serve as extra emergency cordage if needed.

I like the design but I don't see where it would fit into my line of tools, It may work well as a all around tool replacing a knife/hatchet combo. I would have to give one a try. If it did not do the all around thing, then I would see me packing a knife and more traditional hatchet. My thoughts is that the cutting part of the blade would be a bit short to replace a knife. It may lack the ability do do fine/detailed work. I wouldn't condemn it without testing though. I often use just the Condor Aztec Cleaver as a one tool camping arsenal.

The cutting part is 5" long which is longer than most of the knives I carry. I agree that a combo would be better but I never carry a hatchet with me and can't really see me ever doing so.

I like the curved handle much better, a curve seems to give more power when chopping.

Random thoughts, some of which have been mentioned:

-Cool design!
-I like the second more than the first, I imagine it'd have more power with the curved handle.
-Bringing the handle all the way up so you could choke up would be neat (if it's indeed meant to be a 'solo' kind of tool)
-I like the tip dropped a bit to expose the sweet spot more.

Pit. I agree with the 5 inch length being long enough for cutting But. In my hands at least, I would think it would be kind of clumsy to cut with.I am Not knocking it, and in truth, How many of us are going out in the wilds with one tool. ;) Not I said the guy with a truck load of JK's:D
