Hello,

I have never posted on this subforum although I am a longtime spyderco fan.

I have a kind of "sensitive" question. I carry my folders in my waistband. As the wave opens the knife, does it put the user in harm's way, so to speak. I'm sure you understand my question.

Thanks for any responses.

It shouldn't. The blade opens up on the outside, so there shouldn't be any risk of any sort of snippage.

I don't do it, not with my Spydercos or Emersons. The blade opens in line with the handle. Coming out of a pocket, you have a little bit of leeway but in the waistband, it is tight, and less clothes between you and the blade.

Under stress, which is what the wave is supposed to simplify, you could slip.

I guess not, my friend waves his XL Espada by pulling out of his waistband and he has never been cut by it. So i doubt any Spyderco waved knives will...

Thanks for your responses guys. I think the best thing to do would be to try to get a trainer and see how it works.

Good idea with the trainer.

Think about it...if your pants are saggin' and you grab the knife under duress....you just might change your religion...

Then again, you could claim ownership of the "bobbit wave" feature....

Because the tip is close to your waistband any way, you're not likely to do any damage below it. However, if you have any overhang above the belt-line, you might nick your shirt, or yourself. And, even without a trace of "love handles", if you wear shirts that blouse a bit they might get nicked.
