Hi. I'm new and not a knife expert by any means. I'm looking for recommendations to have an old marbles hunting knife refinished. It's not in bad shape, just 50+ years old and worn. It was given to me over 50 years ago, so mostly just important to me. Thanks

Hello and welcome to Bladeforums.

A few more questions. What do you mean by refinishing? Is the blade pitted? Does it have a leather handle that is moldy and falling apart? Does it have a leather sheath that is falling apart?

Posting some pics would help.

Another place to ask the question. Or read thru some of the folks post and email a few with some questions.

I'd be cautious about refinishing a fine old Marble's knife that is still in relatively good shape. By all means sharpen it and restore the leather grip if necessary, but don't do anything to alter its natural patina. As for the sheath, it's likely next to impossible to fix that. Make another one like it if you can, or have one of the talented sheath makers on this forum make a replica.
