I've owned two Emerson knives since I started buying and carrying knives about 10 years ago, a production CQC-7A and a clip-point Raven. I liked everything about these knives except the chisel grind. I eventually sold both of them because I found the grind made the tasks I bought the knives for a little difficult (ie. opening boxes and other "slicing" applications). I found that it was hard to cut in a straight line with a chisel ground edge.
I do miss my CQC-7A though and would like to own one again. So I'm wondering if there are anyplaces that provide a re-grinding/profiling service that can eliminate the chisel grind and give an Emerson knife a conventional double grind that is more utility friendly. And if so, how has the finished project turned out for any of you that have had it done?
