Hey folks, I am interested in regriping a 5/16" Kukri.
I would like a longer taller and thicker grip made out
of some form of makarta. Anyone interested in doing this? TIA.

This is actually more commonly requested than you might think. The handles on CS's khuks don't last long, and even when they do, hurt the hands in prolonged use. Micarta will certainly last longer. Personally, I prefer wood.

That said, putting on a new grip is not that hard. Just get an old chisel and hammer and whack the scales off. With a good flat file and one rounded file, you can shape new scales yourself. Add pins, and you've got a new handle. Probably won't take longer than a Saturday afternoon, even for a first-timer. If you run into a snag, post your questions here.

There are 100 ways to skin this rabbit...;)
