Re-hafting and swell lock?

Any of you forego the swell lock when driving in the wedge? Is there any more common type of things that work in it's place? I am getting ready to re-haft a True Temper Kellys Perfect I found at work and want to do it right. I also wanted to do it over the weekend and cant find swell lock anywhere local. Should I just order some online and wait till it comes in or will anything else get the job done? Is it even needed??

Some guys use it, some don't. I do not. However, when out chopping today(pics in another thread) my axe head did come loose. However it wasn't a perfect fit job either. Lots of guys like it. You can find it at some hardware stores, and also on Ebay - and it also has a generic name - which I can't remember - sorry! I am sure old man Google can tell ya.

Dipropylene glycol or DPG. It's used in perfumes as a base liquid not as smell. It's harmless on your skin. It's much cheaper to buy generically.
