Stumps,

In your first re-handle thread on a 112, you had removed the spine-lock. Is this necessary? If so, what does it accomplish?

Thanks!

I guess I didn't have to remove it, but the rocker rivet needs to be cut off and peened flat to the liner on each side.

I was just playing. :)

Also, make sure you get the leftover scale rivet pieces out of there. The ones behind the lockbar spring.

I Just took the scales off a few Buck 110's I'm planning on dressing up with Sambar stag. I told you wrong earlier about not having to take the rocker rivet, arm and the spring out of the frame.

I had to take all that stuff apart to get the top rear pins out on these five 110's. The pins sit right against the spring and wouldn't come out. They would catch on the spring a little sometimes and the action wasn't smooth like it should be.

It's easy enough to take apart to get those last scale pins out though. I am getting much better at putting them back together again too. :)

Looks like a very interesting project — could you keep us posted with photos as it goes along?

Thanks!

Oh, so you're actually removing the pins? I just ground them down on my 112.

How do you get the handles flush with the frame & bolsters without buggering up the metal?

The 112,is coming slow. Afraid I might have ruined my blanks. I sold most off woodworking machines a couple years ago and don't have a disc or other sander to miter the ends with.

I do bugger up some of the frame and bolsters a little, but I have been able to buff it out fine.

I keep the tape on the handles when I start sanding and let that guide me as to when I am getting close to metal.

From looking at you pictures I get the impression that the factory only pins the scales on and no glue is used.
Is that correct?
