Hey guys.

I can't seem to find much on easy ways to re handle my Master Hunter.

I have an old Carbon V that I blackened with vinegar. Unfortunately, it caused red rusting where the tang goes into the Kraton, and most likely inside, too.

I'm highly limited on funds and tools, but I'd like to get this damned handle replaced before any damage is done.

These rubber handles are a weak link in an otherwise awesome design.

If you know how to stop the rust, like an oil soak or similar, I'll take that till I can figure out how to replace the thing.

Thx!

it seems your main concern is to stop the rust first. i admit i do not know if your blade will continue to rust until there is any irrevocable damage. but i suppose it is possible. maybe. probably not. anyway what i would do "if" it were my project is to remove the kraton and sand off the rust till i hit bare steel.
why i joined bladeforums in the first place, i had a knife w/ a handle i wanted to change. the pics show how it turned out .. i had only simple tools. still do. files, sand paper, ruler, drill. thanks for all that back then and today Stacy .....
sorry pitures won't upload. however it turned out real nice. i'll try pics another time.
