.
I obtained a new 4-1/2" Cold Steel Roach Belly (pattern) knife, and I just happen to have a Whitetail stag's shed antler...……….. So I decided to replace the issue rubber bumper with a piece of the stag.
First, I removed the issue rubber bumper (handle) from the new Roach Belly:
Then, I cut a tine off the Whitetail shed, and scribed the size of the CS tang onto the cut end B 4 drilling/filing to fit the tang
I then cut 3/4" off of a stick of Ebony, similarly marked/drilled/fitted the wood to the tang, & did a dry fit.
Keeping safety in mind, I taped the antler & the blade before epoxying the handle materials to the tang.
I then ground the Ebony down to conform to the antler, and the choil @ the rear/bottom of the blade.
This is what I ended up with:
With sheath:
After handling the rehandled Roach Belly, and since it's a short 4-1/2" skinner, I found that the curve of the antler is just right for skinning.
