I asked this question in the traditional knives forum in the Celluloid Q&A thread, but maybe this is a better place for the question.
I have several Fight'n Rooster and Bulldog knives with cellluoid scales and one F-R in particular appears to be beginning to out-gas. I have it segregated from the other celluloids and the other celluloids segregated from everything else.
I like the celluloid scales on this knife as they are a very pretty "Christmas" style, but I would definitely entertain changing to a different scale material to salvage the knife. I have never tried to rescale a knife and don't know if I have the skill. I'm pretty sure I might need some trinkets and tools I don't have since I do not work on knives already.
So, the question is whether or not there is someone out here in the knife community that would or regularly does re-handling jobs. The knife is a large stockman pattern with slanted bolsters.
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.
