anyone know of a company that does really good re-oxidizing. price and door to door time helpful to thanks

Oxidation is rust. There are different ways to coat a blade and it would probably depend on what you want it coated with and how tough you want the coating to be. It could be as simple as an epoxy paint to one of the more advanced coatings.

Edit: If it is a carbon steel and not stainless than it can have a patina which is a form of oxidation. Like was mentioned let us know what type of knife it is to better answer your question. If you are just looking for a patina then that is something you can do pretty easily yourself with something acidic like the mentioned vinegar.

ya i think you want duracoat, its a paint you can get that goes right on your blade. It works well

It may be faster if you told us what brand/kind of knife you have so we can figure-out what sort of coating you have on it.

If it is an "oxidized" surface, then it was blued. While the word is "blue", the actual color is typically black. You can use liquid "cold blue" to touch-up black-oxidized knife blades. Get Oxpho Blue from Brownells, I think it works much better than the Birchwood Casey "Gun Blue" available in retail shops.

What is more common nowadays are any variety of spray-on paints and coatings. Then again, it could even be parkerized like the KABAR.

It really depends on what knife you have.

o sorry guys but yeah im talking about a black blade on a sng. i no they dont re do there coats so i was wondering if there is someone after market that i can send it to before i spend 400 on a knife and it looks like trash in a few months

Well that is a stainless blade so it would need one of the more advanced coatings if you want it to last awhile. The epoxy paint will make it look good and you can probably even do it yourself but will wear quickly. What about just getting a satin blade so that you don't have to worry about any coating?

That or just accept that it is going to get used and those are just character marks that make the knife yours. Although I have never seen the stripped Strider blade after a lot of use to see what it looks like with a lot of wear. Might not even look all that bad?

I don't know a place to have it recoated but if you know of one of the tougher Ti finishes a quick google search might turn up someone that does it not too far from you. I would expect it to be pretty expensive for just one piece though. I would guess in the $50-100 range? I don't do blade coatings so I don't even know the best ones out there. Good luck!

Your knife is supposed to get marked up with use. It's just how it goes. If you don't want to mar or scuff up your $400 knife then don't use it. Buy a Buck/Strider 889 for a fraction of the price and use that instead.
