At the Bealton Gun show today I picked up a small Sirupti with a engraved brass sheath. I had been looking for a small Sirupti and there it was with this very outstanding sheath. What can you tell me about this, to me anyway, unusual Sirupti. Thanks for any information. The sheath with it engraved designs is really outstanding in my opinion.

Hi Ivan and welcome.

Any chance you could post some pictures of this Sirupati? Would help in evaluating it.

Kozak, I wish I could but have no way to do it or send it through the computer. The man wh0 sold me the knife sells Gurkha House Kuks. I bought a British service from him before with the owners manual with all pertinent information. Got the same material when i bought this one. A lot of effort went into making this sheath I bet. Pictures would really help to get info on this Sirupti. I have the WWII which I got from a blade forum member who lives i Alaska and used it up there. It is a HI import and the othere 2 I have are Gurkha House Kuks. And to think that for 15 years all i had was my Indian Army Kuk from Atlanta Cultery!

If you go to Craigs post on" afew one of a kind" you will see a Khormi Horn sheath with brass inlayed symbols which are the same as the symbols on my sheath. The bottom symbol in the picture is hard to see, but on mine is a 6 pointed star like the Star of David i think.

Ivan: Greetings! You bought your knife from Peter J Frye, one of my favorite dealers and a great knife maker in his own right. As for your knife, it's a Dhankute Khukuri, very similar to the Dhankute Khurmi. The Dhankute simply refers to the city from which this style originates.

Glad you met Peter! Did you see his scrolled buttcap WWIIs?

Thanks Craig for the information on the knife I bought. I bought a service number one from Mr. Frye a while back. Im really didnt get to look at his WWII knives this time as i was all excited about getting that smaller one. i cant get over the work put into that sheath. Everyone who has seen it is really impressed with the sheath and the knife itself! The Nepalese who make these knives know their stuff! And to think for years I was using one of those Indian Army Kuks from ATLANTA CULTERY !
