I picked up a MT Crowd Pleaser...one of the 16" overall length. Is shortening the blade to 5" from 8+ something a custom guy could do for a reasonable price?

Maybe I am looking at the wrong knife, but it seems like a very rare custom knife that's rather expensive. Why would you want to shorten it? To answer your question, I am sure somebody like Josh / @razor-edge-knives could do that, as for reasonable price, that's always subjective.

ok, this is just weird I guess... you picked this up?

and just want to cut off something like 4-6 inches? personally, I wouldn't, but if you're sure go for it
I imagine many guys would do it reasonably, post over on the maker/mods forum or https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/maintenance-tinkering-embellishment.794/

please post pics afterwards

Didn’t realize it was such a rare knife. I got it in partial trade for some leather work. Damn thing is too long to carry, but I do like the ergonomics. I appreciate the advice.

Shortening the blade by several inches is very likely to change those ergonomics. At a very minimum, the balance will change.

Yeah, I would say the same. While this knife is not my thing, it is a nice piece of work and changing it like that seems wrong. It will also make it far less valuable to anyone else. YMWV.
