Re-tapping scales to flip clips on folders...

STR is backed up for a couple months, and I have some folders that I need the clips flipped on...

As I see it, I have two options: Figure out how to do this myself OR find a recommendation for someone else who is really good at drilling and tapping scales to trust my knives to....

So, do I try to buy the tools, and if so, what should I buy to handle hardened steel liners?

Does anyone else offer reasonably priced drilling/tapping and possibly custom clips?

Drilling and tapping is easy.

Just make sure you get the correct thread on your taps.
If you really dont know any thing about it just take the screws to a hard wear store with you and tell them you need to make a hole that these will screw into.
They should be able keep you right on the drill bit size and the right thread to use.

You can also get tapping kits that have the drill bits, taps and screws all ready to go.

Drilling hardened steel liners is a huge PITA, same with tapping them - soft steel is easy but once hardened you need to use tungsten drill bits.

Steel liners are not as hard as a blade would be so should drill pretty easily.
If the liners are Ti then they will be easier to drill than steel would be.
You still want to use good drill bits either way though.

What are the knives you want to work on ?

Yes, easy!

For drills, taps, screws go to knifekits.com. This is in case your factory screws are metric???. You can go to US threads.

Kershaw Talon (Ti/hardened liner), JYDII SG2/Ti (just Ti), Spec Bump (G-10/hardened liner).

Im just scared because none of them are cheap, and two are collectors items...I don't want to mangle them.
