Some of you may have seen me post that I can't stand the benchmade 710. Well today while I'm waiting to be picked up for work, I decided to give it another go. Ill carry it all week and see if my opinion changes. Wish me luck!

I haven't seen any of your recent posts. Why do you hate it so much?

I don't hate the 710 but if he's like me then it's just a little more blade than he needs for EDC purposes.

Meh, don't sweat it. I'm a huge spyderco fan but I was never able to warm up to the beloved Gayle Bradley, so I sold it to someone who would enjoy it. Give it another go, but if it doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy then just pass it along to someone else. You are allowed to not like a knife even if it's extremely popular.

When the 710 first came out in the late 90's i thought it was the coolest thing on earth. over the last 5 years ive gotten rid of my 710 variations, & no longer have the slightest interest in it ; funny how tastes change....

So, you hate this knife, but you've kept it in case you might like it? You must not have hated it that much in the first place. Don't see what the big deal is.

I used to carry a 690...good knife but crappy edge-holding.
I finally got a 710 D2 a couple of wks ago. Yes, it's a good knife; good steel, lots of blade for the handle-length. I haven't carried it yet, but folks surely do like it a lot.
I probably will carry it; maybe just gift it. I generally carry my TAD Dauntless or a Zaan, so it takes quite a knife to push into that rotation.

I buy knives, and if I don't like them I still keep it. Its that simple. I have plenty of blades I don't love or even like, but my knives and guns and tools will all be given to my son one day. He might enjoy the ones I hated. I hate delicas but own 2...

Now, before I was carrying a zt0561, and compared to that the 710 carries like a dream. I only used it once today to remove some drywall, and it did the task fine. I think the skinny blade us what throws me away from liking the knife. Time will tell.

For each his own: so do not try too hard to like it, it does not really matter!

Well after two solid weeks of carrying the 710 for work I've grown to like the knife. Before I was using a 0561 and I like the 710 more now. The d2 held up a lot better for me than elmax and the ease of carrying is great! Its a good knife and I've been blind. I'm sorry I doubted you benchmade I know you can never let me down :)

The 710 is a great knife, carries well and IMO can be relied upon - I got stranded in the back country of Northern Canada once and it really saved my bacon. I trust it

It took me a while to warm up to the 710. I never hated it. I was just ok. But last month I handled my buddy's 710 after not holding one for a couple years and it just really spoke to me. All that blade is concealed so well in the handle. It carries like a much smaller knife. The D2 is great. I wish I got an M390 when they were available new but the D2 is a fantastic steel so I can't complain.

The 710 is one of my favorite knives of al time.

That's cool... The 0560 is a real looker, but the 710 is the boss man. That d2 will give elmax a fat hiding. And the thinner blade just makes it super easy to use and slice... checkout my review/project using the 710. It gave me so much faith in benchmade as a proper working tool, not just a looker.

"A fat hiding" , hahaha that's awesome. I'm going to use that line today on someone :)

I find the 710 to be very good looking. It's simplicity and the graceful way it hides that large blade with ease is sexy.

I like the look of the 0561 a lot more, but after using both for the same tasks I found the 710 to be more user friendly. I think it looks a little funny, but the 710 is just so much nicer to carry and use. Now I need one in m390! :)
