I'm looking to get a portable GPS navigation system that I can use in either of my trucks.

did a forum search, and found one from '06 that seemed to favor the Garmin Nuvi systems. back then the 330 seemed to be the hot ticket. Since technology marches so quickly, was wondering what folks out there were using now.

My bud uses the Garmin Nuvi 660, and likes it a lot. any other recent favorites out there?

About two months ago, I picked up a Magellan Roadmate 2200T for $250 at Costco. I couldn't be happier. Great performance, small in size, great battery life. I seriously considered the Nuvi, but after reading a lot of reviews, I'm convinced that I got the best bang for the buck. My Magellan hasn't failed me yet.

A friend has the Nuvi 350. Man that thing is NICE. Lots of very good reviews , but I know it's kinda pricey. I was amazed at how quick it picked up.

I just got a Garmin C580, a touch bigger than the Nuvi models, but also less $. I like it a lot, it works quite well. The software is easy to use and pretty much is right most of the time. I think I paid $399 @ Costco if I remember right.

do any of those (Magellan, Nuvi, or Garmin do Bluetooth for hands free phone dialing?

I use a tomtom the interface is very good IMHO. I've had it for years and it still works great expect the maps are a bit out of date now, but you can buy updated ones from tomtom if that becomes an issue.

The Nuvi 360 and 370 does offer Bluetooth for hands free. Photoslide show and MP3 player.

"I think most of the upper-end Garmins do, my new C580 does it nicely."

i need hands free for phone use in Kalifornia now... are you moving your nav units between vehicles?
