A while back, there was a post about A. G.'s prices, and it turned into a load of support for him. In that thread, Mr. Russell promised a Steel Thumbnail to posters who, well, see for yourself...

You have all been so kind. I would like to make a gift of a new product to each of you, including the OP. If you will send me your mailing address and true name of course, and your post number, I will mail 502 less duplicates and my own posts. Another original design, slipjoint lovers will really like it because it will allow them to open the hardest sprung slipjoint without breaking a thumbnail. This will take a few weeks, enough time for me to hear from all of you...

I was included in this, quoting his post...
I am really disappointed only 14 of you have responded and given me your names and addresses so I could put you down as someone who speaks up for me or has brought me attention and who I can send one of our new steel thumbnail, knife openers as soon as they get in please send me your name address and your post number. to <E-mail address removed >

thanks, A. G.

My reply:
A.G.

I don't think it's a matter of only 14 people speaking up for you. This thread alone has had hundreds of replies, mostly sticking up for you and telling the OP how great your service is. I think it's more of the fact that most of us are loyal customers of yours and simply don't want a freebie.

I've ordered no less than 50 knives from you since I started receiving your catalog, and I couldn't be more satisfied. I think I have four or five of your Woodswalkers, and I love them. You, Mr. Russell, are the epitome of what a businessman should be. You understand the consumer because you are the consumer, and based on that, you know what's fair and what's expected. The fact that you live up to that and then some has been mentioned before, so all I'll say is...

Thank you, from another satisfied customer.

So, why am I digging this up again? Well, because my A. G. Russell Steel Thumbnail arrived today. It's got a cocolo scale and came with a half sheet of paper thanking me for my support in the thread. I knew A. G. would do what he said he'd do (he always does) but I wanted to let the posters here know that mine has arrived and I hope others will chime in here. I'll post photos when a camera becomes available (tomorrow at the latest).

Thanks again, Mr. Russell

*Note: The red "E-mail address removed" note was done by me, as this offer was good back in the beginning of May 2009.

I'll say this just for the sake of saying it - AG Russell has some of the friendlest, most honorable, and professional services available. If it costs a couple of extra bucks for a 100% satisfaction guarantee, or a lifetime of service and support, I think the investment is well warranted.

Plus he has some of the best traditional designs available anywhere.

Thank you Mr. Russell.

DallasSTB nailed it:thumbup:! When he post on the pages I'm on regardless of if I reply or not I pay attention to what he has to say!

The Steel Thumbnail came in a plastic bag marked with the item number (RUL-OP1CO) and a half sheet of paper explaining the tool...

JN- agree about AG; I didn't bother when the offer was made because I wasn't looking for a reward. By the way, in case computer burps, the EZOut is on the way.

Years ago AG told me that, "Knife people are some of the nicest people."
AG, of course, is a knife person.
Thanks AG! ;)

Anybody else get theirs yet? I made this thread to point out that A. G. is a stand-up individual, which we all knew. No, he didn't have to send anything out, but for him to do so was extremely kind. He sent out around 500 of the Steel Thumbnails if I recall, and at $7-$9 each (depending on the handle material) plus shipping, Mr. Russell has given up money from his own pocket to get this tool into the hands of his friends here at BladeForums. There aren't enough  icons for that very kind gesture.

I was pleasantly surprised to find an envelope addressed to me , inside was the Thumbnail and a Thank You note from Mr. Russell himself, kinda reminded me of the old days when ya got a knife opener from the different knife manufacturers.

Thank You Mr. Russell it'll get a lot of use. :)

Yep, got mine too. Rides nicely on the keychain. Have not had an opportunity to use it yet.

We got back from our Thanksgiving trip, and mine was waiting for me. Great little tool.

And, since A.G. asks in his note for all who received the 'thumbnail', to let him know what uses we find for it, here goes:

So far for us:
I have two nasty strong Stockman patterns, and the 'thumbnail' works perfectly on them, I can carry them now ; it makes a good little screwdriver for electrical plates; it's perfect for prying dead batteries out of battery-powered things; and my son has used mine to pry his stuck LEGOs apart. :)

A.G.: you, sir, are a Gentleman, in every sense of the word.

thx - cpr

I received mine recently as well, really neat little thing. Thank you very much, Mr. Russell!

So far I've used mine as intended, for opening a few stiff blades, opened many cans of adult type beverages, used it to break the seals on a bottle of wine and a bottle of Cognac, loosen the screw on the battery compartment for my GPS.

It does make a nice lite duty pry bar, open tabs on the battery compartment on the remote controls.

I've just begun to play with it.

Thanks again Mr. Russell.

Class act. I just received the catalog yesterday and drooled over several knives. A.G. has one of the best booths at Blade every year too.
