I was thinking since Spyderco is constantly searching and exploring new fields and striving to achieve breakthroughs, has it thought of collaborating with Nasa on a new design for use in space by astronauts.

It would be immensely rewarding to come up with a knife that can be used under special conditions, perhaps in a weightless environment, where certain properties of the blade can be put to test.

Even the shape and other attributes of the blade can be engineered to fit the specs and suit the needs of men in space. Perhaps working with it in the Space Lab?

Who says there's no place for a blade in space.

"Spyderco conquers the Final Frontier". Now, wouldn't that be a great ad?

The NASA Knife position is already taken. It's a modified version of the Emerson Specwar.

And, of course, Randall has the fixed blade NASA knife spot all sewn up.

Hi all,
Been lurking and learning here for the past month or two and have really been enjoying myself. Thanks.
I visited the US Air Force Museum (Dayton, Ohio) last week and saw the Imax movie about the International Space Station. In it, there was a shot of one of the astronauts flipping open a folder that looked like a Spyderco. They were installing new equipment and needed to cut into a wiring harness. Anybody else see that?.

Hi Tech a Billy. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

Thanx for the story. Always fun to hear.

Actually, Spyderco is used by most of the special services and Govt. organizations and they are regular dealers with dealer accounts. (FBI, CIA, DEA, etc.) I guess it's not considered "official", but they purchase our products regularly.
