I’d buy one...but I buy almost everything out of Golden, so that isn’t saying much.

Yes, yes, please Sal yes. Sprint in 440 SE. Throwback is bada$$, this sprint would be stupid easy, just straight black G10, and 440V SE. Very little risk

What advantage do you guys see with 440V versus other steels already in the line up?

it was used way back when in the military. good overall steel for wear resistance. keeps a very good edge. i just like it. i also really like xhp right now. id be good with a fully serrated military in that. also many other steels. just thought if 440v was back in production it would be neat to bring it back.

Yep, I'm all for this. Maybe attached to an FRCP Millie?! Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

yep. didnt think of that.....frcp scales would be awesome if it helped keep the costs down.

Since FRCP is molded in much the same way as FRN, and there is no mold currently, the setup cost would be substantial. Unless they make fifty thousand of them, it would likely add to the cost rather than keeping it down.

It also seems kind of redundant, since the Military is already pretty light as is.

I thought I'd heard rumor that an frcp/frn version was already in the works though? Perhaps that was just the PM2.

I'm not really concerned with the weight saving aspect so much as the hopefully lower cost, the feel in hand and the possibilities of some translucent scales like the BD1 Manix 2 LW. Emerald maybe? Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

I've yet to try s60v. I'd probably try one.

It's harder to sharpen than the other steels in its class?

I'd def like to try S60V. Maybe in a Military , Shaman , Yo2 etc.

But skip the boring black G10. Pick another color. Or maybe do Titanium. Or even CF.

I'm all for trying new steels. I've done things like imported knives to try new steel and even made a few knives with steel I couldn't get anywhere else. Having said that I'll say that while 440V/S60V is an impressive steel that started many of us down the stainless vanadium powder steel path it isn't the best such steel. S90V and S110V are both improvements performance wise. Spyderco had to drop the hardness down to around rc 56 IIRC due to chipping whereas S90V can be easily run at rc 58-59 and better yet S110V can be run up into the rc 62-63 range without difficulty. S30V was Spydercos next step up for the premium US made line and is considered an overall improvement also.

I still have a couple Natives in 440V and I like a bunch of steels much more than 440V. If they changed the composition to improve the edge stability ( 440v steels weakness) then it would basically not be 440V any more but a different steel. I'd try that.

Good point. I'm pretty satisfied with what we have now. But I'd I find a good deal for anything in s60v I'll have to try it out.

yeah its more about the fully serrated than which steel. although thought it would be neat to bring back 440v in fully serrated.......
