1) What do you think about the Swiss-Tech Utilikey?

2) How many of you use it and carry it on your keychain?

Any and all comments are welcome comparing the Swiss-Tech Utilikey to the Micra, SAKS and others.

I'm thinking small, light, compact

I carry one with my house keys. Can't beat it for small, light, compact, etc., and you can take it anywhere. Functions OK as a screwdriver, so long as you don't mind the fact that part of the handle is a sharpened knife blade. Functions OK as a knife, so long as you don't expect too much in the way of sharpness or comfort. Definitely corrosion resistant (I seem to use mine mainly to cut down weeds on my lawn and never really clean it properly, but no rust).

I carried one for a while, but I've since replaced it with other things. A second one I bought had a pivot that was far too loose. It fell open by itself, so I returned it.

Utilikey is on my keychain for more than 1 year now; I have it always with me when I leave my house. Smallest practical tool

!
Sometimes I take my leatherman Micra/Photon Microlight along too ; more rare is when I take my SOG Paratool along (regular sized tools are a bit bulky; good quality though)

Hope this helps

I carried one for awhile and then almost lost it when it lost it's springiness. Was going to send it back but never got around to it.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

I'm never without mine! It's a very good "won't scare sheeple at the office" box opener, the rest of the tools work well too, for what they are.

But then again, I also carry a small folding scissors on my keychain. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably consider a Micra. The Utilikey knife is actually fairly good though, more useful than the Micra's in my opinion.

Dunno. Figure out which you'll need the most, scissors or knife...then factor in the other tools and come up with your answer.

The Utilikey IS a nice little item.

I've had mine for awhile now. Its a great little tool. I've used the screwdrivers more than anything. Since it looks like a key its been with me at the local courthouse. Great little tool.

Hi Jim,

Why do you say the Utilikey is more useful than the Micra? In what way?

Thanks,

I considered the Utilikey. However, it is very long, way longer than my longest key so for me, the Utilikey is less compact and has fewer tools which is why I chose the Micra.
