I don't remember where I picked up this old knife. The only markings I can find on it are -
????pringle
Belknap
Hdw.&Mfg.Co.
3 of the original 4 blades are broken off and the 4th. is only a sliver of it's former self. I keep it because those old bone scales are just gorgeous, to me anyway. As worn and smooth as it is I imagine it rode along in someones pocket for many years.

I agree with you on that bone. Love that brindle coloring. What would you call that color and is it smooth or does it still have traces of jigging?

I don't know what to call the color other than "I like it":). As for the jigging, nope it's all worn off with the exception of a very few extremely shallow areas along the bottom on both sides.

Primble, a branding of Belknap the hardware jobber, once one of the largest! Here is a link to the few old Belknap catalogs we have bought, scanned and archived online. Betcha you can find your knife in there somewhere!

Thanks so much for the link. I will look through and see what I can find.
What a great group of guys and girls on this forum!

The story it would probably tell is "I was owned by someone who didn't take care of his knives well." That's a lot of broken blades...

OK guys, I just took a picture to show you what is left of it. I would love to carry this beautiful old thing if it only had useable blades.

You were unjust! It has almost two blades!
I could show you some knives that would make you think you've got over two blades there.

Wow.... That's has been a user for a good long time. Thanks for giving us a peak.
