ready to take a step up on riveting

I've been using a Craftool tool set to set rivets, but am ready to take a step up in order to make my kydex look better.

What do you recommend? I rather not spend 100 bucks on a press.

I have a drill press, and can make a lot of tools myself, but figure this is one I'll have to bite the bullet on.

Don't know if this will help you, but there is nothing wrong with building your own press or modifying an existing tool.I modified a small arbor press for stamping my maker's mark. They are cheap to buy and the ram can be easily removed and modified for different setups by drilling, milling or welding.Dave:)

here's a pic of my modified press

Sorry for the thread jack, but this is also the same question I have. Is it better to get one of these arbor presses and modify it, or can I make do with a hand riveter like this one?

And then use brass black to dye the rivets... I already have read a lot on the basics of kydex bending, will probably start doing it soon just as a hobby and make some new sheaths for a couple of knives, but still not sure as of what to use for riveting. I don't want to use screws and would like to do the grommet style rivets.
