Hi

I acquired a "BUCK 639" about a year ago and just now did some research and realized it was a special blade. I don't know much about knives so I looked more into it and saw a lot of talk of fakes and remakes of this model. I searched the forum but could not find specific ways to spot a real BUCK vs a remake so any help would be appreciated. Mine has 639 < on the blade. I cant seem to post pictures but if anybody wants I can post some google drive links to images. I plan to contact the manufacturer but was wondering if there was something I overlooked. I would like to sell this at some point and just hope that it's legit before hand. Thanks all

Making an assessment of originality without a picture would be impossible.I don't understand why anyone would counterfeit an old knife like the Buck 639,especially since it's a $100.00.

Pictures are going to be necessary.

You can either use a third party hosting site for your pictures or buy a membership here and attach them easily. With a gold membership you can also sell it here with less fees than eBay.

Strictly spoken is the 639 (with backsaw) a fake, namely of the film set knives from Rambo movies. These motion pictures have been the trend setter of these survival knives like the Buckmaster. And the 639 Fieldmate is a low budget Buckmaster Remake. Anyway: all these Survival knifes are at least „fakes“.
