There have been a couple threads lately about country music and everybody has there favorites,Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel are a couple of mine and I keep up with what they're doing some via Facebook. They released an album together recently and a few weeks ago played together on Austin City Limits. Our local PBS channel doesn't carry ACL but I got a pleasant surprise tonight when Willie and Asleep at the Wheel posted on Facebook that the show was on the PBS website. If your interested here's the link,http://video.pbs.org/video/1305419931/,it's a great show with great musicians playing really great country music. It's a lot of Willie with some Bob Wills mixed in,it's not for everybody but if your looking for good music give it a try.

Thanks for the heads up. Willie is awesome. I grew up listening and still do.

While country music is not my favourite there is certainly some good stuff out there.

Here is a bit from my side of the planet.

Nice

I enjoy some good ole fashioned country music. I'm not much into the pop stuff that's on the radio now.

I'll be at a David Allan Coe concert in December - I can't wait for this one!

Thats cool. I got to meet Willie years ago when I was a bouncer at a CW bar.

I too like the older stuff. To many pop singers riding the country bandwagon IMO. I was really happy awhile back, I found my Patsy Cline cd

I stumbled on to a classic country music show on the radio one night while I was in the truck. I've never been able to find it since

We have a local "community" radio station, KDHX-FM, that puts up a number of "roots" music shows. (They webcast)
For the classic country fans, there's the "mid-day jamboree" on Saturday at noon:

Plenty of the good old stuff you don't hear on "country" stations any more.
You can look at sample playlists and even listen to archived shows.

For the more contemporary "alternative country" types, there's the long-running
"Songwriter's showcase" which has introduced me to most all my favorite artists:

It's on Sunday at 10:30 am. Host Larry Weir knows as much about modern roots music as anyone does.

There's a station in Buffalo that mixes in quite a few oldies on a Saturday morning and one in Rochester but there oldies show is from 4 or 5 on a Sunday morning and it's over by 7 or 8.I used to stream a station from PA that played some all day long but they've gone the same as the rest in the past year or 2.I like traveling through PA on a Saturday evening, there are a couple that play the Legendary Saturday Night show and there's a small station in northern PA around Blossburg that plays oldies by request on Sunday evenings starting at 6.Mongo turned me on to a station in Texas a while back,it's mostly new Texas country,I don't remember the call letters,I have it saved and can find it if anyone wants.Anymore if it weren't for listening on the internet,I probably wouldn't listen to much radio.
