OK, so here's the deal:

List, w/ pics if possible, some of the REAL fighting / combat blades out there. No tacticool stuff here, but real life knives.

I'll start (pics to come):

Kabar / Camillus, etc. Mark II Combat Knife. mine is a WW II USN model.

Gerber AF Combat Folder

Gerber LMF II ASEK (not sure if this one is in the same class, buy I have one, so I'm including it :) )

I could list more, but I'll leave the others for y'all to add.

Whatcha think?

I was checking these out today after AG's post.

If I had to choose, I'd probably go with something similar to these design's.

The no. 1 tool for beating back the barbarian hordes since the 4th century B.C.

I wonder if any other sharp object has claimed as many lives as this here design...

A steak knife from Walmart, or anything else that is cheap and disposable.

A reputable kydex maker once informed me that he makes a lot of sheaths for military personnel who buy generic, cheap knives with the intention of leaving them "on scene" in the event that they are used.

I agree with this and would go for a kitchen knife if I ever needed a knife for defense.

As for what I actually carry and train with, I stick with that which has proven itself and can be purchased with beer money...

Here's one I forgot... the machete.

The blade of choice in third world countries. Works just as well everywhere else. No need to buy a fancy one when you're going to toss it out when you're done anyway.

The photo is a pile from Rwanda. We all know what happened there.

personally I think the smaller one is one of the best combat knives I've come across.

Do we get extra points if there is hemoglobin left on them? :D

Depends, is it fresh or antique?

Are these battle used types? Awesome knives for sure.

JAB, a REAL military knife! Now we're on to something!

OK, to add a few more:

M3 Trench knife

Gerber Mark series Combat knife

Gerber BMF

Buckmaster

I'm not saying anything about those two in particular, the bigger one was my grail. If they were sterile (no logo) then they have most likely scene action. The company that makes them supports the troops and has a long record of providing edged tools to the military personal.

And I just helped with picture posting i'm not saying anything about smatchet.

I'm almost certain many operators have used Ernie's knives on the job.
