I've find a very interesting site where you can ask questions to a real Laguiole professionnal, and lots of links about knives.
You can also buy on line from a wide range of laguiole knives. http://www.laguiole-france.com
if anyone has links about knives please email me

What do you all think of Laguioles? How do they hold up?
I'm pretty impressed with their site and like the idea of getting a customized knife for under $50. I know they're not "if I was on a desert island and had to rely on one knife" knives. But they seem well suited for what they're designed to do: open bottles of wine and cut up cheese and salami and such at a picnic, plus serve as a general-purpose pocket blade. Any thoughts?

Has anyone in tge USA ordered one of these direct? I am curious about what you thought of the finished product, quality, how long the shipping took, etc. I was impressed to find that "my" knife, with my name engraved, light horn handle, and corkscrew was only a couple bucks over $50! anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated...

Come on, folks ... no one has ANYTHING to say about these knives? What about you list members in Europe?

Got my Spyderco Laguiole this week and am very impressed, good quality and elegant, with a contoured leather sheath. Ordered another straight away

I know well these knives, their quality is very variable because they sell so well since a few decades here in France that anyone began to produce laguiole knives.
One example of a really good laguiole knife
maker is Calmels.

My best friend brought me a small one back from Lyon on his last visit to The States. 3" blade. 6.5"oal. It's a sweet little pocket knife. Great for using in public when you prefer not to pull out your Gunsite folder or what-have-you.
