No, not a knife fight, but I was working, and we had a hostage situation with criminal wanted for several counts of murder and two counts of kidnapping. I am not one of the SWAT dudes, but as the SWAT team was staging I was asked to leave my two officer perimeter postion and disable the vehicle. The hardest part was belly crawling along the fist and grapefruit sized rocks. I after crawling to the truck (the truck was 15 yards from the suspect's window, facing the window). I tried to cut the valve stems, but then I found out the tires on the 2001 Ford pickup had small metal inserts in the valve stems to protect against such petty vandalism. So I went through the sidewalls of the two pass side tires, and when I realized that taking out the driver's side would put me directly in the line of fire I cut the rear tire in the driver's side from under the truck. As the tires deflated I found that the dropping truck and the fact that I had to crawl over a parking block conspired to defeat me. My duty belt hung up on the parking block and the truck's bumper. I had to pull out, tearing my tape recorder pouch.
The endura held up well, but the steel belts ate the edge. I had my SE Sifu and my 800HSS with me, but both of those have expensive finishes that cannot be replaced, so the workhorse it was.
