We have some mini blinds at the Powernoodle Compound that need to be cleaned on occasion. And if you've tried cleaning mini blinds, you know its not that easy. Its almost easier to pitch them and buy new ones. We've tried all manner of cleaners, but its always a major hassle trying to clean each individual slat. Usually there are some potty words involved.

Yesterday we threw a mini blind in the tub with some Oxi Clean powder and hot water. Let it sit there for 4 hours. And when it was done, that sucker was clean, with no hassle. That sticky, aerosolized goo that accumulates on the blinds was gone. This stuff is awesome. I think its basically some kind of powdered hydrogen peroxide, but whatever it is, it works. Oxi Clean will eat organic stains like food, blood, grass, grease, etc., so now I'm looking for things to clean with it. Just bought a used Maxpedition bag that has someone else's mung on it? Throw it in a bucket with some Oxi Clean and you are good to go. Awesome.

And now a message from my pretend internet girlfriend Melissa:

Miniblinds... the perfect window treatment for the man who does not have enough to keep his household staff busy.

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't taken off like wildfire. I mean, is there anything more manly than cleaning mini blinds? I think not.

It's nice that you got your mini blinds clean and all, but it seems to me you missed a perfect opportunity to test the edge retention on several of your knives by cutting those suckers right in half and replacing them with something much more manly. Like bedsheets.... :D

How about getting the tea stains out of my dining room table cloth? Over the protests of my guests, I insisted on using a table cloth for a Chinese food dinner. Oops. There goes the Missus (not the child) spilling her tea all over the table. I've been thinking of dying the whole thing with tea....but maybe not. Now, I'm abuzz with excitement .....I mean mini-blinds for goodness sake--I bet it cleaned the bathtub too? Nicely done.

Actually, one of my other strategies has been spot treating it with peroxide, and I can see some improvement....

I wonder if it could be used in a carpet shampoo machine to get cat odors out of carpets, or would it cause foaming problems in the machine?

We've been using this stuff for years at our "compound" and it is amazing. I buy the BIG bucket @ Costco and they run coupons on it several times a year for an

even better deal.Mash it into a paste with a bit of H20 and treat tough stains directly before the wash.

Mini blinds do come out as new with an overnight soak in the tub.

I would not recommend it in a carpet cleaning machine.Best to rid yourself of the cats.

Nature's Miracle just for cats - find it at your friendly neighborhood pet store.

Mini-blinds, I always did the manly thing and just took them down, fired up the pressure washer and blasted them clean with simple green in the soap dispenser on my pressure washer. Works like a champ! The key here is to take the mini-blinds down and outside first.

Also, try using candles instead of areosol sprays. Or just smoke cigars inside.
