I just picked up about a dozen shaving blades in a box from the dump.... maybe a dozen or so... definately over 55 years old... germany and Switz..... neat stuff.
Would these be a good source for... I don't know... maybe melding together somehow... into something more contemporary... or would the metal be too brittle ???
Thanks,
Stocky

get yourself some nice handle materials and pins, and make the handles for the razors and enjoy them?

But I'd reallyu like to know if the metal's are ... or could be, a good material for making a knife blade?
Thanks,
Stocky

I just saw one guy who uses the blades to make nice wood carving knives out of them. You could maybe get a small bird & trout out of them. Nice find.

Straight razors are actually already knives:thumbup:  :D

The edges would be quite fragile to use them as a regular knife, but they would work....Make stag handled friction folders from them....Oh yea that would be stag handled straight razors:D :D :D :D ....Justhandle them with stag as patch knives ....Just have fun with them..

They are most likely carbon steel.
Bruce has some great ideas for them.
These blades are generally forged to shape.
The steel is pretty good!
