I've been back and forth about it but the small lanyard hole has me thinking I got scammed. Man they are getting good with these clones. Please give me your opinion. Thanks

Small lanyard hole is pre cqi, not an indicator of a fake. Looks legit but can you add picture of spine?

BladeHQ's images look about identical in the lanyard hole size department. Did it come with a box or paperwork? I ask because most clones come with mismatched boxes and paperwork.

It seems legit to me, at a glance.

You know it does me to. Came with box but no paperwork. Claim was kids spilled juice on paperwork. I want to believe seller and I do in a way cause everything else seems to check out except lanyard hole. Good to know that's probably not an issue.

I’ve Never heard of people buying/selling fakes on the forum. From the pics you showed, looks like the real deal. Are the edges chamfered or sharp? As sure as I can be without holding the knife that it’s real.

There might not even have been paperwork to begin with; not all models come with more than a box and some kind of plastic or bubblewrap bag.

Edit:

Also, most fakes have noticeably different patterns to the digicam, and/or have terrible engraving on the clip. It really does look like you have the real deal.

Interesting. While I am not an expert, my old Para 2 had a large lanyard hole. So, I too would be interested to hear others thoughts especially with more knowledge than myself.

I'm not sure all standard S30V Militaries come with paperwork.

And like was said already , the small lanyard hole just means it's pre-CQI. So you can't go by that. Looks real so far.

Post a pic of the box label. You can tell the date of manufacture there.

That just means that it's post-CQI. How old is it?

Clip shape, one-sided pivot screw, screwed stop pin, and smaller standoff screws all match the pre-CQI Millie as well (at least to my eye). I always look at the tang marking placement and kerning, too (clones sometimes use "U.S.A.Earth" vs. "U.S.A. Earth"), and those look good to me as well.

I have had my Para2 for a while. I would say atleast 3-4 years old. Thanks!

I believe the para2 always had the larger lanyard hole. The military increased the size of the lanyard hole at the same time as the screw in stop pin, I believe several years ago but I could be wrong about the timeframe. the first Millie I got with the cqi updates was the s110v model, the rest I bought since then without the upgrades may have been old stock, the pm2 flies off shelves a lot quicker than the military.

The best way I find to tell many fake Spydercos is looking at the way the jimping is cut. On real Spydercos it is cut so itclimbs the spine of the knife over the “bridge” that goes over the SpydieHole like a set of stairs.

On the fakes the jimping is cut so it looks more like mountains or spikes pointing straight upwards like ^^^^^^^. The real ones have an distinctive “stair case” look to them.

See here on this real PM2 how the jimping peaks angle back to form a “staircase”

See here on the fake how they do not and the peaks point straight up.

This is so far true for every fake I have seen that is trying to imitate this style of Spyderco jimping.

From my own experience of Having been gifted a cloned military, and I know there’s many different clones of Spyderco, it was very obviously a fake. Fit and finish, action, overall quality. It was not a head scratcher about whether or not it was fake. That’s been my experience with pretty much every clone or counterfeit I see, I have friend who insists on collecting them.

Some of the modern fakes are getting really quite good. Especially to someone who isn’t familliar with a certain model it can be very confusing.
