Hey Members,

Picking up a new firearm at the local pawnshop I saw a (Fake?) CRK Sebenza in the knife case.

- No numbers/anywhere

- thumbstud/s

- I can’t tell, is the ‘M’ on made off?

- A price tag of $250

Please help me to identify that this is what I think it is, a fugazi! It’s super smooth and solid just like my Zaan. But doesn’t seem right for some reason/s…..

I would love feedback and some pics for comparisons (not so much on the numbers or lack thereof), on the red flags.

Looks real to me but I sold mine quite a while ago so I'm going off memory. If others think it's real, I'd offer $150 because it is pretty beat up.

Come on folks, I agree I wouldn’t buy it but point out the issues you see. I am actually NOT good at this game and I learn something every time the experts break it down.
A picture of the blade flats would have been helpful.

Here is why I would not buy it:
The lack of numbers. There are real ones out there with no numbers but that’s exceedingly rare.

The blue on the studs. Not right, and not enough wear relative to the rest of the knife. Somebody went to great lengths to make it look used (lost body screw) but the wear is not legit.

The box is extra beat, again attempting to give it a vintage look, and doesn’t make a lot of sense. This could happen but when combined with everything else it’s a flag for me.

Lockup is so out of spec it’s a red flag.

The lettering looks wonky. The workmanship in general looks bad with rough edges if you look closely . Incorrect parts. Uneven wear. And that box?🤷🏼‍♂️
We see forged guitars and even guitar strings!💀

Yes it’s fake. You are correct in noticing the M looks off… the midpoint on the M comes all the way down whereas it only comes halfway down the middle of the letter on the real ones. Also, no date code (i.e. D-24) on the inside of scales near the rear is another giveaway. Although, I am surprised to see Allen screws used vs. torx like in normal fakes.

The level these fakes are getting to is wild! If you were not tits deep like most of us and carry one every day you could get taken. That box is the craziest part to me.

The lock up is quite early, but that might be because the stop pin is not seated correctly. For me it's hard to tell without seeing the blade.

Definitely fake. Some things I see at least:
-M is definitely off
-in general the chamfering looks off, especially the lock bar cutout. On a real deal there is slight chamfering and looks to be none here.
-the lanyard pin hole looks too close to the edge and the chamfer there looks exaggerated.
-The pocket clip looks too thick to me, but hard to tell from the picture.
-Most of the screws are hex which is surprising, but looks like a torx next to the pocket clip.
-lockup is way too early, but you could contribute that to the missing stop pin screw.
-looks like pretty rough machining in that first pic near the thumb stud.
-thumb stubs looks surprisingly good, usually they are more obviously bad.
-Blade centering is surprisingly good.

Thanks for all the info guys! Some pics of your legit Sebenzas in contrast with this one and where they’re different would be great also!

If you get to look at it again, check the back spacer for a date stamp. Some earlier models were stamped by the back spacer.
The stop pin grooves look wide and not indicative for that time period. That’s not to say it could have been rebuilt from different knives.
The blue is too deep, the lanyard pin doesn’t look right in the pic. Most legit have a tit in the very center.
The screws doesn’t look like their all flush with the slabs. All that I’ve seen/have are flush with the slab.
The pocket clip doesn’t look correct, at the very end, it should be parallel with the slab and not look flared out.
Over the years, the 21 has gone through subtle changes that go unnoticed until they are compared side by side. Is there a bday card in the box ?

Thank you for all the valuable info ….. no birthday card. Oddly smoothly and rock solid lololIMG_2215.jpegIMG_2216.jpegIMG_2217.jpegIMG_2218.jpegIMG_2219.jpegIMG_2220.jpegIMG_2221.jpeg

Could be aftermarket, but AFAIK CRK doesn't make double-studded Sebenzas. As someone noted, they also look too dark -- like they're coated with something rather than anodized. Lock up is way early for a Sebenza.

While I agree they are to dark, CRK makes plenty of double studded Sebenzas
