real schrade or taylor junk?

Hard to say. I don't have one to compare, and sellers often use old Schrade pictures to illustrate new TBLLC items. I'd say ask the seller. TBLLC is introducing new items all the time, like the LED flashlight. Niether is listed in their 2005 brochure either. Again, just ask the seller before you buy.

Here is a period writeup from Schrade as seen in Popular Mechanics magazine:

Wellington doesn't have to know squat about Schrade. They can look on the package as see if it says made in U.S.A. by Imperial Schrade Corp. Use their "Contact US" bar at the top of their page.

then if it came out around 2001 , it must be a genuine schrade . looks like a collectors item too :)

If I was on the correct page of the Wellington offerings, everything that could have been a genuine Schrade is "Out Of Stock" any way so the question is moot.

Judging from the price I would say it is the USA Schrade. The I-Quip came out in 2003 and listed for $250. The next year they lowered it to $200. Since Taylor is all about making things cheaper, I doubt this is made by Taylor. I don't think they sold well for Schrade, so I doubt Taylor would copy it for that reason alone.

Just my $0.02

Ridiculous prices are being asked for genuine Schrade items in Oz but not often being achieved as not large enough following as yet. They are passing off the Chitaylors Deerslayers and Sharpfingers as genuine articles so there will be disallusioned new collectors entering and leaving almost immediately when they receive the Taylor Crapp.I have about 400 genuine Schrades some of which I will start selling on Oz Ebay when the time is right as interest in Oz is definately growing.Genuine MIB's with correct paperwork will invariably sell in either market.I have been selling the 1470T O's 'orange handles' sold about 25 so far with reasonable success but I suspect all will be users even though MIB's. Larry, are you seeing/acquiring some odd (to us Stateside) Old Timer or Uncle Henry pattern variants? I know that many of the ISC orders from Imperial Europe went to Australia, like most of the orange handled Safe-T-Grips.

schrades have always been ridiculously priced in oz , the only thing that has changed is that there now very hard to find.this guy is selling the taylor junk for like $75 aussie dollars for a folder , when genuine schrades were common this was cheap for a schrade but nowadays that schrade would be garbage , as its a taylor. that should give you an idea

Question: Why oh why does my message stretch out of the boundaries unlike you guys?
G'day Codger, I have purchased most of my Schrades over the past 4 years from U.S.A. however have purchased some from Oz Ebay and from Fishing Tackle shops here in Oz but dont really see any variants. I purchased a complete box of orange handle 1470T,'O' s some time ago direct from a source in U.S. and been selling on Oz Ebay but most get used as the excellent fishing knives they are!I was lucky enough to start collecting before the tragic factory closure so have some reasonable variaties.
Dale when I feel I can let go of some of my little children "400 schrades "I will start trading mate. Up till now I have traded in other knives just to fund my Schrade collecting so have been a very active buyer.
SirGalant,I cant help myself when I see some poor chump bidding Au$60 for a crapp Taylor Deerslayer with only the U.S. flag showing on the box and always email them prior to end of bidding..some manage to withdraw bids when they realize they have been duped so sellers obviously know what they are doing is not ethical....as Barnum said"one born every minute" Hoo Roo from Oz.

Good Mornin' Larry,
I understand about you not wanting to part with your knives. I only have 375-400 Schrade & Imperial knives. But I do have multiples of some patterns, and I sometimes trade those I have extras of.

Take care,
Dale
