So, I like tactical hawks. I have a few. Not the nice expensive ones. No budget for them. But the BUDGET style: SOG CS Condor, and Estwing kinds.
I am a reasonable guy who will not expect these to compare with the big boys, but figure in theory, they should be able to do things like whack through doors and windows, and maybe a little can openering on a car hood in an emergency. I don't have those things hanging around to try that myself.
Sooo, I go to my local web to see tests. What do I find? Clhopping twigs and 2x4s and small chunks of cinder block. Really? Yard work to show tactical ability? Then the summaries: chops ok, but not great for wood splitting. Really??? Ya think? Anybody who has used a $5 camp hatchet can figure that one out! Broke cinder! Ok, how about a car window and a house door? I don' see many situations in life where a cinder crumb being life of death deal breaker!
Does anyone anyone do real tests with this stuff on the web, or here? Or am I destined to buy doors, goods, and door jambs with hung house doors to find out if these things work for what they were designed?
