Looking for a simple sharpener for use in the kitchen, for cutlery. My wife will be using it mostly
and she's not into using stones, or diamond blocks.

I have been using DMT diamond blocks for my tools an she is not interested in that. The quicker to use the better.

Any good suggestion?
Thx

I like the worksharp desktop.

I found it pretty easy.

It is all sort of one bit. And anything you do need to remove has magnets. So you just pull it out.

Otherwise the field sharpener looks simpler.
(But I don't thing it necessarily is.)

Have a look online at the Idahone ceramic rod V sharpener. Simple set up that can be left on a kitchen bench for touch ups between sharpening's. Made in USA and a good company to deal with, great customer service. They have some sharpening demo's on their website. It's not a high end sharpener, but would be ideal for your wife to keep the kitchen knives sharp.

If the edge grinds are good to start out, then something as simple as the Spyderco Sharpmaker is very useful and simple to learn. I generally use it myself to keep the edges on my kitchen knives tuned up. I do all my bevel setting on bench stones. But once that's done and the edges are set to good cutting geometry, the vast majority of the followup sharpening can be handled with the Sharpmaker using it's ceramic rods (medium, fine).

It's pricey, but the Tormek T-1 is probably the best one, in my opinion.
