Sorry, I just had to after that last thread
It's been a little while since I've made one of these anyhow. Recently I was lucky enough to trade one of my extra 15's for a 16 (Thanks Thorny!). After hearing about the 'Sweet 16' for so long, I decided I needed to see what all the fuss was about.
Here she is after I got her with the folder I was pairing with it for the week:
After using it for every knife related task i required for the week I decided it was time to get busy and strip her down. Here she is right before (pictured in the Azwelke sheath it also came with - love it:thumbup
:
Time to strip!
Spread'd it on thick
I then used two different scraper tools to get it off after leaving it for a few hours. After all the coating was off I hit it with some 400 and 0600 grit sand paper to clean everything up a little bit.
I used a mixture of white and apple cider vinegar for the patina bath
After sitting there for a few hours I washed it off with some soap and water. Wiped it down with some 2k grit paper and put a new edge on it. Took it outside for a few shots, but it started raining. This is the best one I got from that day.
It makes a great steak knife, apple peeler, and cuts cardboard like nobodies business. There is no trying when making some 'try-sticks'. I can't wait to see what I can do to a pumpkin later this month! So far I'm really happy with my 'Sweet 16'.
