I know this is off topic as can be but i really like the people that hang here more than the other subforums. Ok so last night eating i had a tooth break off in my mouth, all the way to the gum. this is by far the worse pain in my life. being a disabled vet im entitled to heath but not dental, so here lies my problem. Im wanting to sell something on amazon to make the money for the dental fees, but im unsure how they will pay me the funds and how long it will take. i went to the ER at the VAMC, and they gave me some antibiotics and some pain meds that will last 2 days and kicked me out, gotta love the VA, I dont have a paypal account because i dont have a bank account, i get my pension directly on a debit card thats not tied to a bank account (direct express) so no one can deposit funds into my account but the goverment.

The item i want to sell on amazon is a Magellan explorist 710 and its currently in the trade section here, i will have to withdraw it as i dont have any other choice.

Amazon will allow me to trade in my product for a gift card, but i cant use the gift card at the dentist office, they will give me a gift card for 200 bucks on an item i bought a month ago (8 days past deadline to return item) the item cost 400 tho, accesories bought seperate was another 70+ but at this point i dont care as i need 175 up front for the oral surgery. i would of rather traded it for some knives but im close to using my bk11 to perform the surgery.

Has anyone sold on amazon? what form will they pay you? can they ship you a check? how long does it take for payment? are there any sites that might work better for me? im trying ebay but they want paypal it seems or a bank account info, i have neither. Im sure it will sell quikly, especially if i list it at only 200 or 225 bucks with accesories. thats another thing on amazon it seems like i would have to sell each accessory seperate? id rather not, id like to ship it all together.

I havent sold stuff online before so im not sure how to begin, should i send it to someone to sell it for me? what options are available to me? Id greatly appreciate any info or help you guys can offer

Im sorry for going off topic but in this pain im getting desperate. i will however throw up a picture to try and keep it becker friendly.

As a fellow vet my best advice is to bypass the VA and go directly to the nearest hospital. They will have a dental clinic. Tell them you are not insured and they will work with you to get emergency Medicaid / Medicare depending. They won't perform any comedic procedures like putting the tooth back in but they will take whatever action required to prevent or treat infection and pain.

At that point you can regroup and see about generating funds for a dentist of your choice or even at their clinic . That's my best advice to deal with the pain and situation you are in now.

Also, as a vet you are entitled to sign up for United Concordia dental insurance. It's not cheap but better then nothing.

I know I didn't answer your question but I hope this helps.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks man. Well i just got it listed on amazon, i had them call me and they are willing to send a check, even though its not there normal method but they said since i have been a prime member forever and use amazon more than 5 times a month they would indeed send me a check. this will take a little longer but it seemed like the only choice. Plus they were so cool to deal with on the phone. they told me i shouldnt list it at 200 or 225, they told me i should have no issues selling it at 325, they said it has a high sell rate and since the lowest price on amazon was 399 and im including all the accesories free mine should sell fast. they seem great with customer service and walked me thru listing my item step by step over the phone.

Now hopefully it does sell fast and i can get this surgery over with!

Thank you very much brother, im looking into that insurance now. I did go to a dental clinic before i went to the VA, they told me id have to pay the 175 before they proceeded with the surgical extraction since i was un-insured they wouldnt even let me in, they did tell me if i couldnt afford the extraction now i still needed antibiotics to stop any infection but that would be a 40 dollar fee for them to write the script and another 100 for the script, so i just went to the VA for the antibiotics. Normally i hate pain medicines and prefer more natural rememdies for pain but in this case they also gave me some codein, normally id decline but in this position i could not. I have experienced alot, i was injured overseas, i have been in over 15 wrecks, i have had my hair literally kicked off my head and my face stomped in, i have woke up in an ICU with internal bleeding broken bones ribs and nose with brain trama, But Id trade this for any of that in a second. im not weak when it comes to enduring pain, but i have never thought this much pain was possible. i have had tooth aches, who hasnt but this isnt the same. its like a sharp shooting pain that goes all the way into my brain and doesnt stop.

Ok im done complaining now, it looks like i got it listed for sale so god willing it shouldnt take but a few days.

I appreciate the concern and care very much.

This is going to sound like bad advice -- and it probably is, but...
Clove oil will kill the nerve in the tooth and has mild analgesic/antiseptic properties.
you can buy it in health food stores.
I have known people who treated a tooth (broken or lost filling) in the short term by soaking a q-tip in clove oil then rubbing that on the bad tooth.

and for Becker content:
a) this beats cutting it out with your BK11... and

Best luck man, there's no pain like dental pain I'm just glad mine is nowhere near that bad (My wisdom teeth are coming in at a bit of a bad angle and I cant afford to have them removed so lots of shifting going on), and clove oil does help a little bit my mom used that when she had a similar thing happen to her premolar (no dental insurance either).

Im going to grab some clove oil and garlic i have been reading good things online about both of those. thanks fellas

And i think the bk11 would be easier in the mouth :) but damn is that ritter sexy!

Try Craigslist, as you can sell locally and get the money up front from the buyer. Armslist might be an option too.

Man i just found out even if it sells on amazon ill have to wait 21 days for them to release the funds to me, by then i would have been paid anyway and the problem will be fixed.
