One of the Elder Hogs had pity recently ... and I had some additional help from another Hog who shall remain nameless (unless he wants to chime in) ... AND:

Here's the 'obverse':

A G. P. Busse "Field Grade" Hunter. You should feel the smooth handles on this knife. And I do like the smooth bolts.

This INFI addiction is murder. :)

I have never even seen one of those things with my own two eyes. I've seen pictures, and that's about it. Congratulations!

They really are a dangerous addiction. Not as hefty as the newer models, but they do have the genuine "Busse Aura."

And the darned things are really "handy" -- just hold them, you know they'll do their job very well.

Then you remember their collector value ... :o

Sadly, I really like them. *Sigh*

And I thought BA-IIIs and SHBMs were tough on the wallet.

That's beautiful, I'll bet it's now the pride of your collections.

Congrats,

Jules

You bet, Jules ... it's right at the top, along with a Silent Knight, a much-favored SHBM, and a small number of others.

I feel pretty darned lucky today.

Hoping your day is blessed.

And that's why I try to steer clear of those things! I'm going to bankrupt if I ever start hunting for SHBMs and the like!

I did, too.

And yet ... at some point ... one will find you. You'll look at it. Consider.

And decide.

BTW, the darned SHBMs are fantastic knives. I love my various FBMs ... but the SHBMs have to be held to be believed. Yes, they are that good.

That's an excellent score! Approximately what year is it from?

Congrats!

Wow! That is an absolutely stunning blade, OP! (Beautiful background, as well!) Got to be the apple of your eye! ;)

Wow, what a great score!

Congrats bro, you're a hog worthy of such a unique piece of Busse history

And that's when I'm going to be in a world of trouble!

I've been trying not to read threads like this, because they'll just feed the addiction, but it doesn't seem to be working. That's how it starts, I guess.

What no "I'll Take it" yet?

Very nice:thumbup::thumbup:

There is something special about touching history.

Enjoy:D

Very nice but I do have a question and I hope it is not a dumb one.

What does the G.P. stand for?

Fairly new to Busse's so please forgive me!!

Isn't that one ATS-34?

Gerald Paul

Otherwise known as Jerry.

This man is a tower of knowledge.

His answers are ... 100% correct!

From the ever-useful BadMojo site:

"The designation "G.P.Busse Field Grade" was used to delineate between the regular knives and the lower finished user grades. The "Field Grade" knives were the precursors to the Basics line. They were produced in large batches and attention to detail was not up to par with the "Busse in Scroll" blades. They were sold at extremely low prices at the time $85.00 - $145.00 while the regular customs ranged from $375.00 - $900.00 during this same period."

The Hunter was likely produced sometime between 1983 and 1986 -- perhaps a true expert will happen by to correct me?? Needless to say, I had to pay just a bit more than $85 - $145 for this piece.

awesome, its in my home state:):)

Seriously, I know that wont do me any good so

Congratulations!

congrats on the knife, and there is only one hog I know of that has stuff like that.....:D
