I just came back from my friend's BBQ place. The local punks broke into it....again. They broke in Friday night ,through the front side window. Not much was taken. The police felt that they must have been spooked and ran with just a jar of change and the Brownie money ( his wife bakes brownies, and the money is in a jar for her). There was a 22 rifle in the corner, and as always, many knives around. None of those were taken.
I put a sheet of plywood in the window, and used liquid nails to install it. Not the worst break-in by any standard...mostly an annoyance.

Tonight, at 8PM, the police caught a ***** teenager inside. He had pried the new plywood out with a crow bar, and crawled in the same window. The police caught him inside and made him crawl back out. They didn't say, but I am sure that someone saw the break-in and called 911. His buddies were gone. There surely was more than one person, as the window is about five feet off the ground. This time he had several things sitting on the counter, and some rolls of quarters he found in the back.About five SOG knives were gone. He must have already passed them out to his buddies. Don took the 22 home after the Friday break-in.

I repaired the window again, and screwed it into the frame from the inside. Saturday, I'll install an alarm. Many years back, I installed them in warehouses.I have two complete systems sitting in the storage unit. I have an industrial alarm speaker that is so loud it can't be used in residential installations. I will install it inside the restaurant ( business zone). Anyone inside while it is going off would get out fast or go insane.

It shows how dumb these kids are to break into a place twice, back to back. This time it was at 8PM, on a fairly busy main street. The window is on the front corner, with two street lights and a security light. They had to be visible from two blocks away. I could see them going around back and kicking in the back door. It is totally secluded by the storage shed and the BBQ trailer. But, noooooo, these idiots pick the front in plain sight. Darwin was obviously wrong. Stupid people must still be breeding.

I'm going to bed,
Stacy

I hate to hear that, Stacy. Best of luck to your friend, and you are a good man for helping them out.

People that disrespect other's property really tick me off. I've been broken into several times. One time they broke into my Mustang. The idiots not only broke in, but first they tried to force the lock...ruining it; then they tried to pry the door open...bending the frame; and FINALLY they just broke the window out. Idiots! That time I lost a carefully collected set of tools that I could just about rebuild my entire motor with as well as my book bag (was in PT school at the time) and sub/amp.

The next break in was at my duplex where I lost about 1/2 of my knife collection and two loaded pistols. The kicker there was I know who did it. It was my landlord's daughter's stoner boyfriend. He had been in the house several times to repair our dishwasher and knew exactly what he was going for. He walked in the front door (with a key), stole what he could pocket without being too obvious, and then broke the window from the ally by throwing a piece of concrete to make it look like a break in there. The hole in the window was not large enough to crawl through. Of course, he just happened to conveniently be on the way out of town to Austin the same day when I called him....

People that prey on others are the lowest form of our species. I have no qualms about pulling the trigger if I ever catch anyone in my house. I have no hesitancy in protecting my family, and the day they try to take that right away from me is the day the people in this country loose their freedom and I look for a nice tropical island to move to.

That sucks. I am glad they caught them dirty rotten %&^%. I hate rats. I have been hit three times and never found out who it was. At least they caught one.

Nathan you got to love Texas if you catch a rat in your home.

Yeah, stupid people are breeding. Now more than ever. I now have a weapon 24/7 and an AR at the bedside. I make it a point to be seen carrying the rifle to the car and back on trips to the range. Finally a cop has moved in down the street. Sweet! The scumbag neighbors have vacated. When the cop down the block sees me with rifle case in hand he waves and nods approval. Thieves are the lowest form of scum. I consider them to be as feral hogs. Shoot them at every opportunity. Just to note: Everything I do is within the law. Castle doctrine to be specific. Yes, Panch0 that is the right of a Texan.

It's at a point now with severe unemployment and massive drug use that more and more of this is happening. Take the time to secure your homes and your families. Criminals are profiling people doing their common routines...leaving for work at the same time, etc. Once they figure out your pattern, you're a target. I too had an attempt made on my shop, fortunately they didn't get in....I decided long ago to counter attack any attempt like that by getting a dog that I was told was half large poodle and half doberman...he looks like a real puss but he's a four legged chainsaw when it comes to the criminal element.

That's not him in my avatar though....that's his boss.

While I agree that stealing is wrong, I can't agree with such a broad accusation. There are many otherwise good folks who have had to turn to thievery to survive... especially these days. A few punks who break into a commercial building to steal change and knives don't deserve to be shot... punished?... oh ya... perhaps a beating would help too. Vandals get little sympathy from me. There is no reason for that, but nobody deserves to die over material things.

That said, someone that would break into your home and put your family at risk gets whatever they're dealt. I make a distinction between commercial and residential break-ins.

I understand that indirectly, they are threatening your livelyhood and the ability to put food on the table for your kids.... but...... well maybe it's the Canuck in me that can't pull a trigger over "stuff".

I realize there are many "holes" in my above statements... I was just sharing a few thoughts.

We found out that one of Don's customers was driving by and saw the lad standing along side the building. He looked suspicious, so the man called 911. The dispatcher lived on the same street as the store, and knew about the previous break-in, and about all the other break-ins in the area. She sent a patrol car right away, and they caught the person inside.

My opinion is if a person is hard working and not a theif, they wouldnt steal from you in the first place, they would more than likely come to you and ask for work, or food. It dosent matter to me if someone is starving, all they have to do is ask. I wouldnt ever even think about stealing anything from anyone even if I was starving, I guarantee you someone will buy you a meal, or help you out in some way. Stealing is for theives, and criminals. Let me catch someone in my house, or refrigerator and youll read about it in the newspaper. But if that same person comes up to my door approaches me like a man,and is hungry, he can set down and have a good meal from Ms. Edmondson. Noone should ever be turned away that is hungry or has kids, but a real MAN would come up and ask for help or work not try to steal from you.

Charlie, well said. There is no shame in getting help if you need it, there is however shame in stealing.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: All you did was state what ACTUALLY HAPPENED, and now you're being racist? Give me a break. :jerkit: Kinda like if I don't like the idea of the government running my health care, that makes me a racist, too, huh.

I hate a thief!!! I also hate the PC crowd almost as much. If the guy is a thief then it does not matter how many or what adjectives you use to describe the guy. If he does not like being called names then get a job and work for everything like the rest of us do, I could care less about his feelings!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother would still take me to the wood shed for saying hate, but that is the only thing I can think of the accurately describes the way I feel about them.

It is possible that a person breaking into a home/business could possibly be just trying to get food, but reality tells us that relief operations like the Red Cross and others would be a much easier way to get a meal. For that matter, shoplifting at a grocery store would be much less risky. Home invasions and other crimes are on the rise. It's a fact.

I understand that what I posted sounded harsh. My words reflect what I have experienced. I'll leave that right there.
