I have a Spyderco Southard, Zt 0566, and 0560 for my flippers. The 0560 is the smoothest knife i own and i am looking for another flipper just as smooth but a little smaller. Some where around the $250 range. Does anyone have any ideas? I know there ia already a thread on this but i couldnt find the answers i wanted.
Thanks,
Tom

thanks for the recommendation. The blade looks a little to thin and fine tipped for my liking tho

Brous T4, Spyderco Southard, most of the ZT flippers are good, Reate flippers, and the new brous bionic 2.0 is supposed to be much better than the original.

whats the bionic 2.0 like. I searched it on youtube and couldn't find any reviews?

IMO the 0562 is the best of the ZT flippers. It's just a great knife. Pick one up, and under the unlikely circumstance you don't like it, you won't have a problem selling it.

how smooth is it? I can't tell in videos. My 0560 literally drops closed after i release the frame lock. Honestly... anything less smooth i will not be as happy and not want to carry it.

I would strongly recommend the 0801

If you check out the spec on their website, it uses the exact same bearing system. It will likely be the exact same smoothness as your 0560.

How much smoother is the ZT to the Southard? I don't think southards could be called smooth, i have 2 southards, and after about a year, I can feel it drag or however you want to call it, it's not smooth like my older sebenza which has seen much more pocket time and use.

when i first got the spydy southard i thought it was the smoothest knife ever... until i got the 0560. the zt is on bearings and it makes a sh*t ton of differnce

As has been mentioned already, the 0801 is a great flipper that's in-between the 0560 and 0566 in size. The 0562CF (if you can find one in stock anywhere) is also at the top of my wish list of production knives. It's the same size as the 0801, based on the specs. Like my 0560, the blade on my 0801 will swing freely with the lock disengaged. The bearings make for some really smooth action.

The Southard also uses bearings. In my opinion, for the money especially, the 0562 is the best production flipper on the market right now. Period. Get one.

check out the spyderco rubicon, another spyderco flipper on bearings. It's super smooth, has great ergos, and is all around great

Night and day, the detent on the ZT's are strong enough the let the blade fly out quickly. The Spyderco's are good flippers, but the ZT's are a notch above them IMO.

the CRKT Foresight is a very nice flipper, i feel this is a very underrated knife. it has ikbs and doesnt cost too much. it is a larger knife though.

The 0801 is the smoothest production flipper I've ever had, significantly moreso than the 0560's I've had and handled. Brous makes a great flipper also, my two favorites, actually, for I like the overall unique actions of them -- the Silent Soldier Flipper and VR-71.
