Hey all,

This summer I was dealing with a tough situation. The youngest daughter was getting serious with a lad that I just wasn't too thrilled about. The kid is okay, just not what I had in mind for a girl just about to head off to college telling me about second thoughts.

Anyways, I figured since she was getting seriuos about him, and his birthday was nigh, and he'd seen my hog collection and started drooling, I thought I would give him one. My reasoning being that he'd be suitably distracted with his newfound love and not focus as much attention on my daughter then.

Two weeks later, they broke up. Okay, he got one of my knives, but I got my daughter back. I know, tough trade, but now that she got smart, maybe she will think of buying dear ole dad another one, when she has money again someday. It will be easier replacing my knife than my daughter, I think...

I hope you only gave him a skeleton warden! :D Daughter for a knife, sounds like a good trade to me.

You seem like a really reasonable guy benjammin2, and I like the fact that you give away knives!

So how olds your daughter?

I'm 25 and work in tool & die :-D

(or am I?)

Well, I had a choice, buy him off with it or use it to eliminate him. I flipped the coin and he came out ahead.:( Next coin flip could go the other way, that being headless...:)

You have a 50/50 chance, assuming you are her type. Then again, she may have learnt which side her bread is still buttered on for now.

Oooh, if I'd given him the Warden, the daughter would've eloped out of spite. Nope, it was an LE FBM, late vintage. Yes, it hurt to pry it out of my deathgrip. Nope, I haven't had a chance to replace yet, but I will, most definitely I will......

Man, thats some funny stuff:D

My only daughter is 12 so I may not find it as funny an a few years

My AR and FBMLE will be hanging under the bookcase right by my chair when they do come to courtin

I would have done the same thing. That was pretty smart thinking. Best of luck with the replacement and your baby girl.

HOLY CRAP!

If it were me, I'd be haulin ass to find that SOB and get my knife back!

That's no cheap blade to be giving away!

Maybe from now on you should keep a cheap knickoff Busse or two kicking around for just such an occasion. I doubt the BF would know any different!

If he know what it's worth it'll probably show up on ebay or BF. I doubt that he'd have much luck pawning it, but if he did you could probably get it back on the cheap. Man your a giver. Proud of you for resisting the urge to give it to him edge first:D

Maybe you should have shown him your GUN collection . Still a good trade .

I also have a daughter, so I can totally relate. Mine usually "dates" guys I don't care for. She picks the same type every time, I figure that's just the kind of girl she is, and that's just the kinds of guys she likes. Funny how they don't take advice...oh well...she'll be 18 soon, and off to college and my anxiety level will drop. So, out of sight, out of mind, so at least I won't have to see who she is dating, and watching her "text" on her cell phone once a minute to the same loser. (really annoying).

Well, not to depress you, but there's going to be another boyfriend, and yet another after that, probably sooner than you'd care for. Hang on to the knives, and just weather these losers. She'll be 18 soon, and hopefully off to college.

Does she like older guys? Okay, so I have a wife, and a son- but I don't have a LE FBM.

Seriously, sounds like you need to invest in a pile of dogfathers. She'll break you with boyfriends you don't like if you give them all FMBs.

Argh! I hate texters! It looks like they have some sort of repetitive motion disorder. It's a phone! Make a call! :D This is one reason my kids will not have cell phones until they can pay for them on their own and they will not be allowed to text in my presence (mine are 4 and 1 so I have a while to go, I also dread the caliber of kids they will grow up with these days).

An FBMLE is one hell of a going away prize! I'd go to his house and get it back. :D

You lucked out THIS time.........next time, he might stick around to get more INFI

I've wondered if some of the boys my daugther(s) bring home stick around to get close to ME and my "stuff."........

.

Daughter comes first of course. But that is not the question here. You show him your HOG collection and ask him which body part he values the most. ;)

Great story. Thanks for sharing. :)

HOLY CRAP! a LE FBM man wat i would do for that blade man if i was that boy i would of straitened up right when i touched that sweet peice of steel... but it just go's to show what a person will do for his family :o

2nd year student at UNC, looking for girl with knife connections. :D
