This showed up in the mail a couple days ago. Northfield #89 "Executive Whittler". 4" closed, carbon blades and excellent f/f w/ threaded and pinched bolsters. This one is serial #8 out of ?. Scales are knarly unburned stag. The pen and the coping blades have 1/2 stops. My photos really don't do this thing justice....

Interesting knife, no wonder you enthuse.

Why does it have no shield though?

No shield?

According to Great Eastern Cutlery wrt Un-X-LD Geniune Stag knives:

"We have obtained a source for genuine stag that allows us to manufacture stag handled pocket knives much as they were eighty years ago. These knives will have slimmer fitting handles with more natural texture and color than is normally customary for comtemporary stag handled knives. We have purposefully omitted the shield and the needless burning that would deface the natural stag character."

I think they made somewhere around 30 of the stag knives. I think there are still a few available.

Nice looking knife. I'm curious if the main blade sits flush with the springs when open.

The f/f is really quite good. The main blade does not have a 1/2 stop and the blade sits essentially perfectly flush with the spring when open. The springs are flush when the blades are closed. The smaller blade springs are NOT flush at the 1/2 stop positions.

I really love mine, great little edc, 3 blades usefulness, super F&F. Love the wharncliffe blade too.
