Hello everyone, here is my dilemna. A really tough problem. How do you keep your father in law from putting thumprints all over your knives?????? Short of chopping fingers off. He is great but DANG, he always has to put finger and thumbprints all over my forged blades. Can anyone help?

Is there an oil or wax you can put on the blades so as not to leave prints? Maybe slap him along side the head, and while you are at it, slap my mother in law along side the head, will you? Edited to add, seriously, it must be a compulsion to HAVE to handle a mirror polished blade and just aren't used to seeing a fine finished knife. I also worry about someone dropping the knife before it is delivered.

well you can show him a polishing cloth and some wax:D then show him how cool it is to clean them up to a high luster shine.

Wow, glad I didn't earn a post like this time I came to visit and put fingerprints on your blades. ;)

Immediately rub them off with your shirt. You do this abruptly and often enough, most people get the hint to stop feeling up the blade.

Crazy glue. He'll only do it once and it will make such an impression it'll be worth cleaning the blade back up.

If he's like my father-in-law, tell him you need fingerprints on it and please put as many as possible. He will go out of his way to wipe it off every time he picks it up!

Wipe clean and oil any balde which gets handled, whether it was touched or not.
I do this way and never had problems with rust.

You can stop showing him your knives and keep just one for him to handle he'll loose interest in it after a while :D

Give him a plastic toy knife until he learns how to play correctly.
