Just love the ergo and the CBB lock on the Manix 2, but it is quite large for me to EDC.
Therefore, i really hope there is a mini version of it with blade length less than or equal to 3 inches..
I know the Sage 3 would be something very similar to that and Para 3 or Sage 5 with compression lock, but you cant beat a Manix IMO! and I just prefer the CBB lock to the compression lock, feels stronger and more reliable.

Pretty sure that there will eventually be a Sage with the CBBL, now that Spydercos has changed their tune about using their own lock in the series. As to an actual 3" Manix, my bet is that it will depend on the success of the Para3...

I would like to see this too.
If they were to eliminate the choil, the ergos might be changed enough that it would end up looking peculiar. My solution was inspired by another Spyderco model, the Gayle Bradley 1.

Ditch the full choil on the blade and split it between the scales and blade.
This will help with keeping the knife looking balanced, while tucking as much blade into the handle as possible (offering the most usable cutting edge) while keeping the ergos we love about the model.

I don't see the need to "Choke up" on a knife that has a 3" blade...

Do I Really have to get that much over the blade, that I sacrifice the comfort added by the scales? No.
Especially when a choil is meant for using the heel for carving notches, controlled cuts with some twisting and such, what do I want? Oh yea, sharp jimped metal.

- Ditch the full choil on the blade and shorten it, and make one choil utilizing the scales/frame for 3/4 of it and the front 1/4 on the blade.
- Three fingers fingers located behind the pivot, this would offer enough handle to fully seat the blade without much overage.
- Offer the higher end alloys to push this as a "users" knife. Now that it would have the ergos and full length blade to support harder use without the choil getting hung up in burlap sacks, tarp material, line/rope, and other stuff, it deserves the higher wear or tougher alloys...

I tell you what, 3" is the perfect using length. I'd prefer a back lock, though.
