For the last two days and again today we have had tornadoes on top of and around Tulsa.:( Right this minute there's a tornado right on top of two of our daughters at 4:20 p.m.!!!! The tornado is skipping along, dropping to the ground and then rising again. I'm praying that it skips over all the homes out around our kid's places and no one suffers much loss and especially no loss of life or injuries!!!!
This one was closer to us as well as my cuz in Broken Arrow. Last night was similar, sure wish we had a fraidy hole!!!!

Here's best thoughts and prayers for both you and your kids Yvsa! A tornado is something I've only seen on TV. Of course we've had our quakes out here, but I would rather face those than any Tornado I've ever seen.

Hope you are hunkered down someplace safe and everyone comes through OK!

Best regards,

Norm

Now there's one down in the Glenpool area that's close to my nephew and his family. The "Little Tails" are walking all around this evening. They're pretty much taking the same track they took last night and if that continues we should be alright.
But it appears the one in Glenpool may be headed in a more northerly direction which might put us in its path.
Right now in Catoosa it's bright and slightly overcast and we can hear the tornado warning sirens going off.
Watching and ready to take cover at an instant!!!! :(

Try to keep your head down Yvsa. I hope that you find out some good news soon. My father and grandmother were almost killed in a tornado that more or less wiped the city of Warner Robins Georgia (rebuilt along the big Airforce base there) on the face of the earth back in the 50s. My father had a hallway door broken over his back, which truned out to be a good thing in this case because it ended up forming a "tent" that kept the rest of the house of him and my grandmother. Lots of back problems from that point on. Not something to play around with take cover if you can and let us know what happens. Mark

Well the kids are either alright or not as well as my nephew and his family. I have a call in to the kids and need to try and call my nephew. I hate this time of the year!!!!
It is comforting to know that lighning is more apt to nail you than a tornado but it's the not knowing about your loved ones that's the rough part!!!!:(
But I don't mind tornados nearly as much as I did the earthquakes in SoCal!!!! You can at least take cover from a tornado. :D

Keep your head down!

Well just found out that everyone is alright, thank the God(s)!!!!

One of our daughters was in her fraidy hole, the other rode it out in her house. The skirting is trashed on it and the house, a double wide manufatured home, is missing a few shingles but PJ said it didn't move, shake, or even quiver.:D
She has it anchored down the same as a full fledged frame house is unlike some people who rely on a few cable ties.
However there's a tree down over the home health care nurse's car that visits her family and a tree had blown over the door of a fraidy hole across the street trapping the people inside but the fire depts there so all will be well in a while.

Now if we can all make it through the rest of the night safely. Hopefully it won't be another late, early morning, night like the last two have been.:(

Yvsa, I'm glad your family is alright. Bet it must be pretty scary up there. About every other day for the last week, we have had flash flood warnings in different parts of northern Utah. I'm not in the area of the flooding but even so, the pics of it on the news are enought to scare me.

God Bless all in area's of bad storms.

Hunker down, Yvsa! Wishing/praying for safety and security for you and all you love. :)

Yvsa, as you know I am not far from you....North of Claremore. These last few nights have been spent watching Channel 8 weather and hoping the worst parts of the storms miss us. Looks like we have been lucky so far. Night before last we went to our hidey hole, although I think the most we saw was 50mph winds, but better safe than sorry. Guess thats the price of living on OK.

Glad your family is safe.

:) hi yvasa you say you wish you had a fraidy hole to hide in,i bet a lot of others out there do to so here is a quick safe and cost effective way to get one.

you get someone with a backhoe tractor to dig a hole in yer yard, then lower in a concrete water tank, then backfill.
add a air vent to top and ladder and bingo safe dry ,waterproof ,fraidy hole.
i have one of these here in australia it is 16 foot across inside and 8.5 ft high,
cost $3400 aussie, thats around $2000 american. we have ours for an underground celler,or shelter, come bomb time, we of course hope it never is used to protect against bombs, but hey least we are ready. hope this helps you guys out there it is fast and efficient, and cost is good.

Yvsa, can you give us an update? Are the storms moved out of the area or stiill a threat. Have you heard from your kids? Are you and Barb out of the danger yourselves?

It's been clear all day today except for a little rain earlier, but thankfully no storms. Kids are okay except for property damage as I said above.
We called off our Sweat for this evening because of 100% chance of thunderstorms today and this evening, dayumed weathermen!!!! :grumpy:
But in reality everything is soaked to the point the ground can't hold anymore so any more rain just runs off. There were flood warnings up until this morning but I haven't watched to see about the flooding of the usual creeks. Parts of Tulsa has had 5" of rain or a bit more!!!! Some parts of Eastern Oklahoma has had up to 8" in just a short time.
