Reasonable prices for refurbished axes

Time to clear out the basement. I'm getting decent at refurbishing and have 30-40 single bits, double bits, hatchets, etc. in the basement. My daughter has signed me up for a Christmas Craft fair to do some selling. So here's my question: What is a reasonable price for nicely restored axe? All of these heads are 40 or more years old, brand names - Plumb, Collins, Craftsman, Norlund, etc. The sites that sell on the internet tend to be all over the place.

There are so many variables- brand, condition, level of rehab etc. Generally speaking, if the head is not too worn and on on a solid handle and yo have made it clean and sharp I would say that the bare minimum would be $30 and most should be more. Average maybe $40 to $70-80 on the high end for the best ones. This is excluding additional collector value.

Jblyttle hit it on the head, you can get a range for pricing on a certain axe but there's a lot of factors at play so you really have to take them into account to get an accurate price. I may be interested in some if you want to talk send me a pm. I use PayPal but could also do a money order but totally up to you.

Politely and diplomatically handled! My compliments.

I was sincerely asking what I thought was a reasonable question. I am not hinting to anyone on this forum that I would like to sell him anything, nor am I following up on any of the responses requesting any information about any items I may or may not have for sale. I had no idea that such a question was out of bounds. My apologies.

Hardest part about re-selling refurbished axes is trying to recoup your time and expense. Even if the head is a freebie, decent handles (if you can find one!) these days are $15 and a half day's effort (minimum) at buffing the head and conducting a proper hang should be worth at very least $10/hr!

True. I don't even worry about $$$ for my time. It's a hobby. I just hope to recoup the cost of the head and the handle. The work helps me stay sane.
