Reasons to buy Police 3 over Military?

Most people seem to like the Military better. Various threads and general impressions tell me to choose one over the Police 3, but I seem to like the Police better for some reason.

Take the perspective of a Police fan and give me as many reasons to buy it instead of a Military as you can think of.

1. Longer Blade
2. Thinner profile in the pocket
3. Midlock

Of course, that's assuming you like those features. ;)

Not to me :) I'd take the Military hands down but that's just my preference.

I have a Police 3 in se that I've been trying to trade on the forums for a year or so and nobody seems to want it.

It's slimmer with a longer blade but the Millie can do every thing the P3 can do. I used 1 of my 2 P3's to cut some pvc a day or so ago.

Mainly comes down to your preference between liner locks and back locks. They both have similar blades, similar ergos and materials.

Big Police 3 fan here. You'll get a longer blade (4 3/8in!), a slimmer profile, & a nice, snappy back lock. Its thin from side to side & carries like a much smaller knife. The handle pushes my buttons, too. Its like a thinner AFCK with a finger choil & a thumb ramp added. If you like these things, hurry up & get it. I liked mine a lot more than I thought I would, & I was already fired up when I ordered one.

I think two of the reasons for choosing the Police 3 over the Military, the blade shape I think is more civilian friendly, and the VG-10 steel.
Some people prefer VG-10 over S30V.

There are many reasons people prefer the military over the police 3 because it is lighter, has a cpm s30v steel, cheaper, and it's made in the usa. However the military never appealed to me because i don't like it's rough opening action (2 of the military i own has the same problem even after applying lube), and the screws that are so easily stripped. I really want to like the military but seems like it doesn't like me.
The police 3 is ambidextrious since it has a back lock, doesn't buldge much in pocket, and it looks nice too! The biggest advantage the police 3 has over the military is the 4 ways mountable clip position. I'd say go for the police 3 if you don't mind VG-10 and less blade belly.

Aesthetics and blade handle ratio. the police has ALWAYS appealed to me, and if they'd up the ante by offering a sprint in some sexy new steel i'd be hard pressed to say no...

which gets me thinking of a carbon fiber m390 police 3... omg

Tough choice! I have both. I have always been a big fan of the Military (even though I don't really like liner locks - I do trust the Military liner lock 100%) The Military has been a constant companion since I got it. Almost 3 years now. Until a few weeks ago.....

My Police 3 has been stored in the Big Box O Knives for a year or two..... forgotten. The Police 3 has a lock-back. I like lockback knives. The blade is even longer than the Military. The Police 3 is even slimmer than the Military, even though it has steel liners. The Police 3 feels like a stronger knife to me. The blade is longer, but a bit slimmer. Not as much belly as the Military.

So the Military is now resting in my Big Box O knives, while I EDC the Police 3 for a while.

I guess what it comes down to is whether you like liner locks or back-locks better. I think, even though the blade is longer, the Police 3 carries better. And by that I mean you hardly know it's there.

The Police 3 has very good blade retention, for a knife with a blade over four inches long it is very hard to flick open. I prefer to carry it when I go to the city for this reason.

They probably don't sell enough to justify this but I'd be all over that in a heartbeat! It would go up on the altar next to the M390 Millie & AFCK sprints.

(To the OP)- To be fair, you'll eventually need to handle a Military sometime to know for yourself. I favor the Police 3 but the Military is legendary for a slew of good reasons. Most of their strengths overlap each other. I have the next Military sprint on pre-order to assuage my shame at not currently owning one. If you're looking for excuses to buy a Police 3, just get it. You won't be disappointed. But do make it a point to handle a Military at some point if you're a serious knife nerd.

Police 3 thinner blade which makes for better slicer , knife is overall thinner which seems easier to carry but it is heavier . Has a feel of better quaility you get a back spacer and rounded spine . Its one of those where you just have to have both .
