anyone buy one from the recent release? Anyone have in hand already? How is he detent? Comparison pics? I’m waiting til they drop stonewashed variants to buy a couple.

I was thinking about it, and may still get one provided they don't instantly sell out everywhere. I too am looking forward to first hand accounts of quality. It is nice to see a Chaves design at a lower price point, and still support the maker without having to buy a knockoff.
 
I was lucky enough to get a Liberation yesterday before they sold out. It shipped today and will likely have it in hand by Thursday.
 
Was fortunate enough to score one yesterday, got the shipment e-mail this afternoon, hopefully have it Wed-Thur or so.

About impossible to tell much from pics, but given the reputation of the players involved, I think it's going to be a home run.

Any update? The wharnie is most likely my choice. Just trying to see if the quality is there
 
My tracking shows to be delivered tomorrow. So given the reliability of USPS I will get it Friday or Saturday.
 
Received mine in the mail yesterday. Very impressed. As expected from Reate, the fit, finish, build quality is exceptional. This is my first Chavez designed knife, and it's the perfect size for EDC, in my opinion.

I went with the green micarta accent. I don't have buyers remorse, but perhaps the black micarta would visually compliment the black blade somewhat better?

All in all, VERY happy with my purchase.
 
Mine will be here Monday - went with the Liberation Flipper. They are definitely selling out fast, glad I got one!!

I’m interested but it seems on the small side. I either want the classic redencion look, or the wharnie. I see someone who still has the wharnie in stock, but a coated blade kills it for me.

Every series X is coated unfortunately. I got a liberation w green canvas. Nice over built knife. I would prefer thumbstudd

Looks like the same size as an XM18 from the pictures, or is that an optical illusion?

They are a little smaller (3.4" / 3.25" for the Chaves vs 3.5" for the XM18) , they aren't exactly small knives, but smaller than most of what Reate typically builds. Personally, I like the look, but what keeps me away from them for the most part is the duck skull clip and I prefer to be more 3.6+" blade length, although if I was liking everything else the .2 wouldn't be a bother.

It's small bro. I think the handle is like 4.25. I'm not bashing the knife. I'll pick one up on the secondary Market if the price drops to around $250. I don't see these appreciating in value, but I could be wrong.

There's definitely a place in my collection for it, but it's very low on the priority list. If it had a handle of about 4.75 though, I'd be all over it.
