Reate Wave scale options

I just bought a Reate Wave second-hand and while it's a great knife, I'm not a fan of the scales' colors. Any suggestions? I remember reading somewhere that at one point the knife would available with different scales, but it doesn't seem that came to fruition; is it possible Reate has different options leftover from R&D for that project? Does anyone produce custom scales for it? Carbon fiber or Micarta would be great but I assume only a metal would be able to hold the threading. The easier option would be to remove the anodized color, as it does not go into the texture I think it may be on the easier side. Have any of you tried to remove it? If so what worked for you?
 
There's definitely no other scale options from Reate, and I haven't seen any custom ones. But the inlays appear to be screwed from the inside, so they should be removable if you want them anodized.
 
Thanks for responding. I've already taken them out when I gave the knife a thorough cleaning. Customizing them in some way is my project for this weekend.
