Hey all,

I mentioned below that I found a blackthorn cane at the antique shop.

After removing the bone crook, I saw a bit of damage. The crook did not inspire confidence, though it was obviously meant to be used as part of the weapon. I just figure it was too old.

So, I went about rebuilding the cane.

I'm pretty sure it was one of those swagger sticks originally as it started out short.

I removed a small damaged section that did not inspire confidence, and began playing with the balance.

This is what I ended up with:

Something still looks a bit off. I'm not sure what, yet. The balance point is excellent, and the bronze weight is heavy and will serve nicely as a club. Gripped by the leather handle, it feels very natural in the hand.

I still have to replace the tip. I don't know what else I may do as of yet. I'd like to maybe hide a bit more of that weight, or smooth it out so it doesn't have such a sharp step to the bolt cap, but then again, that's a right angle for a reason: To concentrate a blow.

Thoughts?

Josh
