Rebuilt hatchet

I found this hatchet at a garage sale for $1, no handle and beat up bad, took about 2lbs off of it by grinding and reshaping it and soldered a little guard on then rehandled it. It has an antler, purpleheart handle and zebra wood spacers. It's 3/16" at the back and weighs 1lb. 7oz.

That looks fantastic, very nice work. Is this something you would consider offering as a service?

Hey thank you Patick! Yes, I'd consider doing it if you trust me with your old beat up hatchet. I'm still learning though:)

Man, i'd almost be willing to go and pick up a hatchet just to have you give it that treatment. Looks great.
 
That's a great looking hatchet! Can I ask what the notch behind the main cutting edge is intended for? I could think of a couple of things, but wanted to know what you had in mind for it.

That is a cool idea. I'm going to kep that in mind when I go to the swap meet. I really like that awsome look.

Thanks for the compliment, the notch was for stripping smaller branches from trees and I thought it was just look cool too:D
